Ive had some good days with the SAVAGE LURES but the best ones have either been DARK COLOURED or SILVER/GOLD coloured & ive lost plenty of them aswell & i can still see them hanging on the trees & snags every time i go to them spots

 

 

youl have to tell me them spots , will let you no if there still there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bit pricey to be flicking under trees !!??

Lol, well if thats were the fish are lying, what else you going to do. your not going to go and fish were they arent, are you. Thats like going fishing in the most sheltered part of a lake, to keep warm, when the waves are beating the banks and washing all the food up at the other end....

80lb braid and you won't lose em

 

I fish that on my multiplier for lure fishing and have yet to lose a lure when using it! Pulled some huge 100lb plus tree stumps and enormous lost eel nets over in norfolk broads pikeing last year The hooks will bend straight rather than lose the lure

:11: ha ha you're just as bad as a mate of mine... he just bought a ball of 75lb braid off ebay and loaded all his reels up with it he's a headcase. i told him if he doesnt catch, at least he'll be able to hang himself with it

apart from not wanting to loose any gear, why would you want to fish with line so heavy ???? if thats the case tighten you're drag up as hard as you can and just reel every fish straight in. nearly pulling the head off it in the proceeds. i was always a fan off fishing with light tackle, that way you're getting the ultimate fight and feel of all the action.... IMO.. if such lures are too expensive that you have to resort to drastic measures like this not to loose them, then just buy cheaper lures...

Trouble is with that scenario is, if you hook a good fish while trolling, and it automatically runs through an imovable snag, ie' boulders, which they have done on lomond. It becomes avery tricky situation...I know its not a good thing to pull for a break with any fish with a lure in its mouth, but in some cercumances you have no choice. You idealy want the line to break near the buisness end,and not have 40 feet of braid trailing behind the fish.... If the lure is semi barbed a pike hasd a good chance of shaking it loose but not if it is tethered to some other object with 80lb braid... I lost over 100quids worth of lures in a session on lomond once, due to the fishfinder packing in! gutted to say the least....

Quite simply because i use big jerk baits on that rod/reel for big fish, these require a strong line to prevent crack offs and enable the lure to be pulled out of snags Try reading up on jerkbait fishing before you start critising I've yet to find a snag i couldn't move with that braid and rod i use i have other rods for light line fishing, i love catching small or big fish on light line but you try fishing a big jerkbait on light gear, you just can't do it I have lures that cost 20 quid or more...bet if you lost a few of those you would soon see the appeal of strong gear. One of my best lures cost only 2 quid though

What a load of crap!! i have over 3grands worth of lures! I'll take you to some emovable snags pal, snags that if they grab your anchor you'l lose it!! Most good lure cost over 2oquid! And heavy gear is 80lb! its 40lb+... I guide novices on my boats, and there are many many times they snag the lures. Its a fact of pike angling mate or what ever you use them for....I have taken pike to 56lb(sweden) pal, and they dont use that kind of gear there..... And why anyone would have to read up on "jerkbaiting" is beyond me, its one of the most simple lure fishing ways there is.........

 

P.s, i'd have a bash at marlin with line like that and land them....

i'd say you were gutted alright pal. unfortunately it's all part and parcel to the sport. thats what it is. a sport. some people forget this and try stupid methods so they don't lose a lure worth a tenner. big deal, buy another one or sell your stuff on ebay if it bothers you that much
