Ideation 8,216
This forum is great - there must be about 30 rotating posts. Maybe we should have a pinned thread for this kind of stuff. I (and i think most others on here) would feed a decent meal the night before and then a couple of hours before ferreting feed a light breakfast, maybe an egg and some meat and then will probably give a kidney or something during the day with water. Malt 379
I always feed up as usual the night before we go out, then give them a bit of egg before we go. This forum is great - there must be about 30 rotating posts. Maybe we should have a pinned thread for this kind of stuff. Been tried before Jai, but we still had the endless succession of "my ferret keeps biting me, What should I feed it, My ferrets hair is falling out, can I cross a ferret with a polecat/mink/badger" type posts.. Malt 379
Can you cross it with a badger Yes, but a ferret x otter is the way to go. If you run out of rabbits you can always take it fishing... Quote Link to post

This is probably going to offend you but if your ferrets need to be hungry to work well them they are not very good ferrets. Mine are not working for food, hence if they kill they just go looking for other rabbits and dont feed, they are working because thats what they love to do. Quote Link to post

Brimmer 220
Bugger, this thread was shaping up to be something worth reading with the comical answers! Why did you have to go and spoil it with serious replies! My ferrets must be crap though, as they work better for not being fat useless bloaters due to being on a bit less food the night before. Coneytrappr 30
During winter they have a rabbit available at near enough all times. They always eat before working and I wouldn't bother working a ferret that had to be hungry to hunt. Quote Link to post
