hi all just after some advice i hav wanted to get my dog on raw when i can cos hear its best so went down the butchers today and he has give me all kinds livers lambs hearts and oful if that how you spell it my dog has been on skinners field and trail puppy but hav always give cooked meat to her like chicken and the times i hav give her lambs heart they hav been boiled so how should i start giving them to her just in bits cos wanted to carry on with the field and trial for of a day and just give raw of a night do i need to just introduce it small then give more and do i hav to mince it up and help advice just trying to put some weight on her really she is 7 months so no she will burn it off but as i was walking last nite someone i was talking to said she needs some weight on her cos he could feel her pins i thought she looked alright but he seemed like he new what he was on about so was going to give raw a try see if she will get the weight on

Just give it to her as you get it ..let her munch her way through it ..might get the sqits from too much organ and offal meat ..you need to balance it out. Don't worry about its pins too much so long as its wormed properly because IMO lurchers pups seem to be tall and gangly one minute and quite chunky the next ..at the end of the day you should be feeding at the very least twice a day and as much as the pup can eat (pretty much)

At 7 months twice a day is enough to feed a pup and don't feed all they can eat. Obesity is not good for any living thing and a lot of dogs will allow themselves to become obese if allowed.

By the time your dog is 12 months old once a day will be enough, morning or evening is your choice.

As for offal? It's not enough on it's own for a balanced diet and too much will scour your dog. Your dog will love the offal but it needs to be balanced with red meat, tripe, veg or meal.

Personally I wouldn't feed offal more than once a week.

If the pins on your dog are exposed it's probably underweight although with some breeds this mightn't be true but at 7 months it probably is.
