Alan Clark 7
There I was cleaning demi johns after transfering some elderflower wine so it could settle and our next door neighbour shouted to come and help catch the cat. She (the fluffy terror) had a woody (again) but had let it go in next door's garden. I immediately offered to shoot the obviously distressed and possibly wounded bird , that didn't go down too well . Then followed a hilarous period of the cat following this dazed woody around the garden being followed by neighbour and being watched intently by her terriers from the kitchen window. Once the cat had grounded it she just followed the feathered critter round on its seed gathering expedition, yes I know evil little thing. So we got bored and went to the chip shop and then pub and our neighbour went to walk the dogs, on arrival home the woody had gone and the cat hasn't grown a distended belly or new feather pillow so all I can assume is the bird flew away in the end, that or it is sat in the bushes waiting for round two or Charlie. Now, if it (fluffy terror) had played that trick in our garden the outcome would have been pigeon on toast end of story. The last pigeon I know the cat had, the stupid thing let it go and it flew off (but wouldn't you) and there was another when we returned home from Scotland that looked like it had dived into the ground from a few hundred feet. No-one saw that episode but I think it was similar to this evening but with added Charlie after dark, talking of which we had a close encounter of the Charlie type on the way back from the boozer. I guess it makes a change from dead mice at the bottom of the stairs in the morning. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Think I would have gone to the pub too Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Great lil story that Sod the Pub, way too expensive I'd have waited till the Woody flew into my garden, then had it on toast Phantom Quote Link to post
Alan Clark 7
Pub, expensive. Normally I'd be in total agreement but we had a stack of 50p off vouchers for Wetherspoons which meant Titantic Nautical Mild and Salopian Oracle for £1.30 a pint. That is better than half the price of the local pub. Quote Link to post

That is better than half the price of the local pub. Plus side, cheap beer. Downside, Wetherspoons!?!? Bleurgh! As for the pigeon, teach that cat to bring them down in YOUR garden. Can't believe her next door wouldn't let you put the poor thing out of it's misery! Still, she always did moan about shooting in the garden so I guess it's no surprise. Quote Link to post
Alan Clark 7
And when I said pick it up and put it in a tree so it'll be a few feet from the cat there was a look of what do you mean, pick up that pigeon? Yes, i meant pick the bird up and stick it in the tree. Oh, and we got home tonight and there were more feathers in the garden from a pigeon, but no victim. Quote Link to post
tdesnos 6
'Titanic Nautical Mild' that has the be one the coolest names for a beer i've ever heard! Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Ah TD, there are a few breweries that compete for the best beer name. One of my favourites (and rather a tasty brew too) is from Wychwood brewery. I kid you not, "Dogs Bollocks". Quote Link to post
elpc69 0
One of my dogs caught a pigeon in the back garden last week and was quickly joined by the other dog, the outcome was very different, it took me over an hour to pick all the feathers up, poor thing was plucked alive, till he shook it... The missus wasn't to happy either! Quote Link to post
Alan Clark 7
Ooh, lunch. I found out that Saturday's feathers was a fatal encounter for the pigeon. Quote Link to post
