Fully fit dogs

Recommended Posts

I guess some people on here dont know what "fit" dogs are.... It is all so different, and matters so much on the terrain you work the animal on. Grass, sand, stubble, rock, slate, clay, babys heads, ruff, bush and so on. Flat ground, hillocks, moor, woods etc...strong dog, skinny dog, meat dog, dry foood dog, all these things mean a different kind of stamina, and running performance.. And then there is the owner! Makes me laugh when you see an over weight bloke, or just a genuine fatty, trying to tell you that his dogs are fit as.. If so, he would be to..Another good indication is the color of the owners face and arms!! ITs been sunny from march till june, most owners with a fit animal would be brown or at least colored a little with a tan. Prime example was at the "flowers pub" terrier and lurcher show in lancs. Where i believe 99% of the guys who go to this one(including some big names off here)are genuine dog lads and know there stuff. Everybody there was brown... You could tell they genuinely worked in the field, didnt look ill, and very few fattys exsisted there...

What a load of shit

You cannot walk a dog and get it to running fitness gaining a nice tan while doing it after all most dont work there dogs in the summer, it will look in good condition and be ready to start running but it wont be anywhere near running fit! Only running PLENTY game will get a dog to the fitness it needs to be at to do its job, ever heard of sports specific?

Anyone who can tell a dog is running fit by looking at is talking shit. A dog can look ripped and in excellent condition but NOT be fit!!!

Lets see your dogs in show condition would of been a better title for this topic, why have a dog to full fitness in the summer when its had a hard winter and probably deserves a rest when the game is breeding and the ground is baked solid risking injury etc? Ive got a nice bit colour on my face and arms from giving my dogs a walk around the local pond so they can cool off while walking but my dogs certainly aint fit, but another couple of month and they will be getting somewhere near but I certainly wont be getting a tan doing it :toast:

the dogs in fine condition, aye his head and neck do look a little large in proportion to his body (and im not trying to be smart)but undoubtly a fit looking dog, usually when underweight the arse end looks terrible with alot of pin showing but i cant see any on this dog? i have 2 bitches who get fed the same, excersised the same etc one i cannot get weight off of her but she is a solid lump and quite quick, the other you can see her pins and a couple of ribs and even a bit of her spine, it comes down to like humans the metabolism of the dogs and how quick they burn off, at the end of the day as long as you know the dogs well fed, well excersised and well looked after who gives a feck what anyone on here says.
