Fully fit dogs

Recommended Posts

I guess some people on here dont know what "fit" dogs are.... It is all so different, and matters so much on the terrain you work the animal on. Grass, sand, stubble, rock, slate, clay, babys heads, ruff, bush and so on. Flat ground, hillocks, moor, woods etc...strong dog, skinny dog, meat dog, dry foood dog, all these things mean a different kind of stamina, and running performance.. And then there is the owner! Makes me laugh when you see an over weight bloke, or just a genuine fatty, trying to tell you that his dogs are fit as.. If so, he would be to..Another good indication is the color of the owners face and arms!! ITs been sunny from march till june, most owners with a fit animal would be brown or at least colored a little with a tan. Prime example was at the "flowers pub" terrier and lurcher show in lancs. Where i believe 99% of the guys who go to this one(including some big names off here)are genuine dog lads and know there stuff. Everybody there was brown... You could tell they genuinely worked in the field, didnt look ill, and very few fattys exsisted there...

WHAT a thing to say  most of you on here have seen my pics, im not exactly slim, :icon_redface: but youve all seen the pics i put up each winter week after week with the dogs lampning and ferreting, with some deasent scores.

ile walk with anyone up the dales, granted i might be a little slower than a 12 stone 25 year old but ile keep going

the other thing runforyourlife is alot of lads run there dogs along side the truck, great for the dogs but not great for your waist

also having a tan is no indication to how fit a dog is in WINTER , im just starting bringing my dogs fitness up now, but it will be another 6 week till there right.

I don't agree with that mate, I know both terrier lads and Lurcher lads a like that are Porky fellows. The dog can get in shape as it runs about but if you're just Walking as the dog is running about you will not burn that much weight off yourself, but the dog can still be whipped into shape.

not my type of dog above but if you look at the amount of muscle mas it has you dont get that on a underweight dog

first cross collie grey should'nt have four ribs showing. saluki crosses don't look like that in match fitness!

well i can see 4 ribs there mister dogy expert
