The farmer from across the brook gave me some mushrooms yesterday that he'd picked in the field. He couldn't put a name to 'em but reckoned they were tasty. Now call me a wuss, but after thanking him, i was straight on t'interwebz to identify these mystery mushys.

Looking at what's available in England in July, they seemed to resemble field blewits. Which was grand......but then i read an addendum that stated blewits also resemble another species called cortinarious and that you run the risk of renal failure three weeks after eating them :icon_eek:

I haven't been brave enough to eat them ! Do any of you forage for mushrooms ? Are there any mushys that are really easy to identify ?

Bugger, i've only just got up and seen this post ! I've promised to take the offspring and her pal to the swimming baths this aft, or we'd have had the kettle on for you. We'll be back early tea time though, so if you're still about, have a look down the farm track and if the blue 4x4 is parked outside the gate, come and park up for a brew and a blether :)
