hi i had my dog and bitch penned up together because my greyhound has just had pups and last night i was checking on her and i noticed my dog and bitch where stuck together and i dont want her to have pups so if i take her the vets is there enythink they can do to make sure she doesnt have pups

yes mate, vet can give injection not sure how long you got so take her straight away

When my dog got over my bitch the vet gave her some sort of jab, cant think of what is was called but she had to have two jabs over i think two or three days, ring the vet and explain whats happened say you dont want the litter and they should give her this jab .What ever its called .

i hope this works im guna take her tomorra otherwise ill be stuck with more pups my own fault for putting dog and bitch in together but i never knew she was in season one problem after another

think you will also have to kennel her seperate after the jab as she can be mated after the jab

and get pregnant again

av brought me dog in the house only got the 2 runs ma greyhounds in the other 1 with 7 pups the dog that my dogs linned aint even mine im minding it for a mate who is in jail

had this happen couple of years ago took the bitch to the vet had to have a jab on the 3rd day and 5th day after mating and the cost was dependant on the weight of the bitch think i paid about £42 the bitch was about 34kg

iv had to use the jab twice before on differant bitches the first time the jab didnt work properly and 1 pup was born (stillborn) the second time it worked to stop the conception but the bitch was abit ill for a couple of days after. i dont use dog sitters anymore!! it cost me £15 per course of 2 injections and the bitches weighed about 7.69kg. atb mrs A.R.D

The newest jab 'Alizin' works very well and can be used up to 40 days after mating, in fact it works better later than straight after the mis-mating. So a bitch can be palpated and or scanned and then treated with this.

 

What they used to use would usually interrupt the hormone cycle and hopefully prevent ovulation and the maturation of the eggs. I too have known peoples bitches produce pups, and or dead pups.

 

So make sure your vets are using 'Alizin' and not ovarid or delvesteron etc.

shes going in tomorrow 25 each n she needs in twise so not that bad really vet said its not a 100% but im guna do it and hope it works
