Ideation 8,216
give him a break i didnt have a clue when i first got a ferret . most people dont. you up ther with all the get a grip at leest he asked and didnt just feed it anything To be fair it's a bit strange getting any animal without knowing what to feed it on. Half the problem we have with dogs, ferrets etc is that folk get them when they 'don't have a clue'. Quote Link to post

Is this just a conception that comes from the fact that you use the ferret to hunt rabbits? It is no better than pigeon or any other game and in fact if trying to build up kits or put weight on a ferret, birds like pigeon or chicken is better as it has a fat content that rabbit lacks. I think a lot of people say rabbit because they have a surplus of them after ferreting all winter mate . We usually fed rabbits then go onto pigeons if we have a good day decoying them but if no it usually chicken carcasses . But maybe cost comes into it and if your out and about you get your rabbits for free Quote Link to post

It's just that a lot of folk don't really use their brain and seem to be like - rabbit is the best, healthiest and most enjoyable food for the ferrets - it's not, it's just often the most convenient. Mine get rabbit, pigeon, duck, pheasant, deer and much more during the season. Quote Link to post
