carrots work well

Mine prefer deep fried chips and cheese lol. Any raw meat does them mate mince, chicken wings, RABBITS Is by far the best. :censored: can also get dry ferret food from most pet shops, James well beloved i think thats the name is meant to be good. Its up to you what :censored: feed. Best bet would be to put ferrets in the search bar or by a book because you prob should have known all this before getting :censored: .

In your case, dry ferret food from your local pet shop, once you get a few rabbits then feed them on them. 8 months before I put a young ferret to work

well mate if you cant get fresh rabbits or pigeons (and i dont mean those scabby street pigeons).go to asda they sell turkey legs and there pretty cheap mate.cut it up or throw it in whole.(raw).failing that chicken wings or frozen rabbit if your flush.also give them a yolk of a raw egg and either mix it with soya or goats milk as a treat.hope this helps.

Out of interest why do people think that rabbi is the BEST meat for ferrets to be fed? Is this just a conception that comes from the fact that you use the ferret to hunt rabbits? It is no better than pigeon or any other game and in fact if trying to build up kits or put weight on a ferret, birds like pigeon or chicken is better as it has a fat content that rabbit lacks.

guess its cause its there basic source of food and i agree a ferret will prob live a healthy od age without ever eating a rabbit.but its what we keep them for and its a readily available food source for them.

Yer thats what i thought and to be honest i do tend to reach for the rabbits first as i have a 10 x 4 chest freezer full of the things in winter, but recently i've been shooting a lot of pigeons and the kits have been on a diet of whole bird, and i've noticed they grow like mad - i'm guessing the fat content. I also think that maybe different animals have different levels of different things (thats so so shaky, but you know what i mean) in them and a variety of whole animals is a good idea. Not saying rabbit isn't fine, but i really noticed the difference when i started piling birds into them as well. o and fish, mine like trout.
