miffy 0
Decided to go foxing tonight even though the weather reports didn't look good. My mate picked me up at 9 o clock but i still wasn't ready Finally left at about quarter past 9 and got to the first field just before half nine. Unlocked the gate, got rifle ready and drove through. Spotted a set of eyes immediately which were just over 100 yards away in some long grass. I tried to coax the fox out of the long grass with some squeaks but he was having none of it and just sat tight. The wind was in my back and as i started calling another set of eyes appeared behind the hedge in the next field approx yards left and behind the first fox The 2nd fox started making his way away from us so i concentrated on the first fox. My mate was now lamping for me and i got the rifle lined up on the 1st fox. As the lamp lit the fox up i shot and the lamp was turned off straight away. We drove down the track and turned right towards the field behind the first and as we approached a gap in the hedge my mate shone the lamp on the field, the 2nd fox was making a hasty retreat The fox stopped briefly to the sound of a squeak which was plenty of time to get the shot off 1st fox was 110 yards and the 2nd was 140 yards. Both were shot within 5 mins of getting to the 1st field and shortly after i took the pic below the heavens opened up big time and i got a bit wet i didn't get any pics of the 2 foxes together unfortunately because of the rain but as my mate brought the 1st fox shot back to the landy he showed me the exit wound of the bullet so i took a pic. The 2nd fox is in the black bag which you can see in the bottom left corner of the pic. Quote Link to post
