Stabs 3
I knew lads years and years ago that used russells as rabbit dogs in place of ferrets. They were pure though but very small. Haven't seen one like that for ages. Quote Link to post
Paid 935
Some lads around my way have done the same, added chiuaua to their jacks to make minni jacks they claim are good for ferreting. Havent actually see them doing any though. My jacks grandfather is a chiuaua, and I was givern him by one of these lads, but though he can get rabbits in cover, and get down a few rabbit holes, he has yet to bolt any, or draw any from a warren. He is 10" Quote Link to post
Guest Jane Russell
They are breeding them locally. A customer of mine has one. Very small. I'll try to get a picture in the week if I remember to take the camera. Jane Quote Link to post

Nell 1
this might be a stupid question but wouldnt a ferret be cheaper and more efficeint ? YES!!! Why would anyone want to spend 25 years breeding a type of dog to do a ferrets job?? Bearing in mind ferrets have been doing the job for god knows how long without the need for improvement?? An absolute waste of alot of years if you ask me Quote Link to post

danny boi 0
i think it might have been because if a ferrett makes a kill to ground then it rests up wich means a dig and i know that that comes with the territory but if a dog makes the kill it can be trained to retrieve? or just called out. just an idea?? y.i.s. dan Quote Link to post
