Todays job was an easy one, had an email from a local garden center that I whack rabbits for when they get a little out of hand, they have cats, so snaring is off the weaponery list, as are the Fenns. So its a total whackery job. Got there around 7'ish this evening, had a good walk around to see where the most action was likely to take place, and decided on this grassy bank, purely from a lazy point of veiw, because this paddock is square, and its grass all the way round, and where I'm shooting from is at the gate hole. This is a pic of the grass bank, its a nice place to shoot, rabbits can hop out of any part of the bank, so its an eyes peeled job. You dont have to wait long here, and no sooner had I got sat down, had a drink of water, and the first target was sat watching me, and you know how it goes, slowly inching your self onto your gun muttering something like, stay there you liittle b***ard under your breath, must have been using his big ears, because it stayed, WHACK! and a semi perfect rolley polley was performed by the bunny, down the paddock towards me, it would have been a perfect rolley polley, but I think the breeze blowing through its head unbalanced it a bit. I dont normally pick up straight away, but the wind was blowing all over the place, so I decided it would be a good plan to remove any thing that had the scent of fresh blood on it. Ten minutes later another bunny put in an appearance, just as I was about to let it have it, a Sparrowhawk flew along the bank, and by the time I had finished watching the Sparrowhawk doing its flyby the bunny had done one, BUGGER! 30 minutes later my next ferret filler hopped out to scran some grass, WHACK! just a single backflip, a quick reload just in case it was stunned, but it did'nt move again. Another quick swally of water, and a wander was coming on, so bag stashed in the grass, and a stealthy walk around the polly tunnels revealed, a pair of ear in amongst some small potted Gerainuims, rabbits really will eat owt, WHACK! spit it out you Gerainuim gobbling little git, and that was the end of rabbit number three. Finished my wander with a tip toe through the tulips, and made my way back to the paddock. Just got sat down, and a pair of ears were flapping in the wind, wey hey I thought, just before post man pats black n white cat put in an appearance, I dont know who's cat it is really, but it was blakck n white. After about thirty minutes I could here the uproar of Blackbirds behind me, this told me the cat was leaving the scene, which is always a good thing. I sat for around twenty more minutes before I decided to pack up, but just as I had packed up another bunny turns up, what else could I do, WHACK! I could'nt have left it, could you. The end of day pic looked like this. atb stealthy. Nice shooting Stealthy good read SS Quote Link to post

jackinbox99 41
Nice one. Im glad im not the only one who has a cat for competition on one of my permissions. The amount of times ive been stalking up to a bunny only to see the damn cat doing the same along the other side of the field. From the landowners accounts this cat is catching nearly as many rabbits as I am!!!!! Quote Link to post
