He is not sitting on his arse, he is asking keepers out there if they could show him the ropes.

We have the internet now and it is a great way to communicate. Why don't you offer him a job!!

im with you holland, sorry fitchet but with respect you were assuming that this is all the kid is doing to find this line of work experience, he is possibly "i dont know him so cant say for sure" just using this as "one" way to find help, i suspect by ya last post offering him a chance to see first hand how hard a commercial keeper has to work that you have realised this and i do hope he now steps up to the scratch and takes you up on it

all the best

College would also be a good plan of attack, there are enough college courses out there in wildlife management. That said there are hundreds of guys wanting to be keepers on courses who will all be chasing the same jobs  Get beating on local estates or find a gamefarm and start from there cos you won't get a course or underkeepers job at this time of year. :)

put a post on www.pubs.myfunforum.org its all free

getting experience is just the start - many estates want college trained people but try and get that first experience before committing yourself.

Be warned though for every keepers job vacancy there are many fully qualified and experienced people applying

im half and half with this fitchet is half right in what hes saying in my experiance head keepers want to see that a lad is keen and can work his bollocks off and drag his arse out of bed in a morning. so getting out there go beating and start making your face recognised. if you know any people that know keepers ask them to introduce you thats how i started to be honest youve started a bit late on in the year, but dont let that put you off the more you get out there the better. look in the shooting times aswell matey often theres the odd place come up in the situations vacant collom.

if it was me id steer clear of colleges to start with matey employers need to know that you can do the job with your hands and not write about it, that might not be entially fair to some but thats the way people look at it.

good look matey keep trying and get out there.

all the best.
