saluki and deer

alright, just wonderd what were saluki like on deer pre ban in uk.

i am in essex. was in warickshire last week, seen a lot of fallow met a lad that use to run them with a pure saluki he said it was mad for them.

got me thinking whan i seen that clip on here with that wild boar.

theres some good hunting books available including about a saluki greyhound called scooby, written preban he took fallow, roe, chinese etc

Put it this way they dont need much encouriging as far as deer are concerned .Thousands of years of running gazells thats in their instinct dosent dissapear from their instinct over night.

best cross IMO . lets face it , plenty if not most crosses from small types to deerhound types will take deer , pre ban , but the saluki , IMO is more suitable for me , .

 

its not just the dog that you got to think about , there the type of land in question ect , were they are running , so get a dog best suited to game and land

 

salukis will cope with most if not all situations .

most dogs will take the od one or two, but you need a good tough dog to take them regular.

Ive saw some good saluki crosses on deer pre ban prelific catches kept some freezers full and resturants happy

i love this forum.

the amount of newbies that joined last 2 years been hunting for years but only just discovered the internet and thl

dont put up pics their own dogs and start banging on about taking deer,coursing and terrier digging is unreal
