He might be respected by the keepers of now but the reason for that is he is in his 's and not stealing there birds. Letting snared foxes out too.........whats that all about? Sounds to me that he didn't like keepers and done his best to make there lives as hard as he possibily could.

It was men like him that made good keepers as he respected even the one that tried biteing his thumb off and all the keepers always had to be on their toes with men like him around i must had this was in the past and he condems the twats who go driveing over land smashing down gates and causing damage plus killing stuff for the sake of it. CarraghsGem 92
rain is a good allie for the poacher, keeper or farmer wont be as keen to check what set the dog off barking when its pissing of rain unless its a repeat offender targeting same pens. desertdog 149
when we were kids, our local landowners were harsh and would,nt let us ferret or take the dogs, so we poached, only bunnies. walking back from ferreting one day, he stopped us on the road, i might add we did,nt have much choice but to go up this piece of road, after an exchange of words and something about him being only a tenant for the good lord himself, he calmed down and asked us to go see him the next day, well it was one of those strange feelings and we did,nt quite know what to do, so after humming and arring, we went to see him, we need,nt have worried our selves, he gave us written permission to hunt and clear the rabbits, and it transpired he,d rather have us on his side and know where we were, we still have this same spot, and we still go, and that was given to us, 35yrs ago, and after all this time, we are still welcomed and talk of the day we met, so i suppose poaching can have its benefits, but at the end of the day, is it worth it, getting your collar felt, and in this day and age, there are to many eyes in the countryside only top willing to grass you up, to much is against the modern poacher, dont get caught. atd desertdog
