andyf 144
Went out today Sat 17th, on some laid wheat in east Cornwall. I haven't shot over decoys for years, but have all the gear, including a new 'plastic flapper with wings and tail on a bendy stick' type thing. Set up at 10.30 this morning on a patch of flattened crop, covered in pigeon sh+t, no birds around but the farmer had shot a few on Friday at the same spot so that's why we were there. Well nothing doing until about 12.00, then they started coming, 2's and 3's, that swingy / flappy thing was magic, even I shot a hatfull (ME Rifle shooter, all about keeping still, REQUIREMENT shotgun shooter all about keeping moving). We picked up 73 and lost at least half that in the standing corn, (2 guns). Anyone else tried this device, they tell me it's even better than a rotary?? It certainly looks the part, but I'm not a pigeon. AndyF Mine: 1970's O/U Winchester Pigeon Grade Skeet gun, fixed choke 27,5" barrels imp cyl both barrels, 32 Gram No5 felt wad. Mates: Berreta Extrema 8 shot fac semi (machine gun) oh dear? See you at the CLA next week? Quote Link to post

cassshantia 16
well done up here our barley wheat has not laid with it been so dry there is so many pigeons about its unreal but they are not targetting the same fields they is too much food for them they are even sitting on the stood rape but cant shoot over that as the dead birds will not fall to the floor and dont think the farmer will be too pleased with dead birds in his combine also the farmers up here are NOT swathing their rape the just spray it off nowadays we have had red letter days on the swathed rape Quote Link to post
