Roxy, the ultimate dog what is the best in your opinion? no such thing, everybody has different idea.if you put time in training your own type of dog its always going to repay you, accept it for what it is,a dugs a dug. Richie10 345
Wasn't asking about everyone, just yours. Everyone could bang on about how a bitza is the best, but the question was on hares. It seems there is alot of Saluki knockers but noone has mentioned a better dog type that will do what the saluki x's do on the fens. Edited July 20, 2010 by Richie10 Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Not trying to start an argument, just curious. Cheers. Quote Link to post

I did not say that. Don't bring me into your silly arguements. I said that in my opinion we will see a strain of white/cream saluki lurcher hybrids evolve through breeding the best to the best. It seems there is alot of Saluki knockers but noone has mentioned a better dog type that will do what the saluki x's do on the fens. if you look back my original comment was on the video which doesn,t look like the fens to me. i,m just new here and didn,t join this forum to argue about who,s got best dugs, seems like nearly everyone on this site wants to argue and i got drawn in must be the heat, roll on the winter don,t course hares, theres a feckin ban Quote Link to post

mC HULL 12,529
WELL FELLA , AS A MAN THAT HAS KILLED HARES FROM CAITHNESS TO KENT ...... I WILL TELL YOU LADS THIS ....... COURSING THE FENS IS A DIFFERENT BALL GAME ....COMPLETELY ! MA BAW ...... YOUR POST SHOWS ME YOU HAVENT RAN THIS TYPE OF TERRIAN .......... YOU SEE ........ THE DOGS THAT WERE BRED FOR THE GAME MAKE IT LOOK EASY ....... THEY DO IT WEEK IN WEEK OUT THROUGHOUT THE SEASON .... THE FAST " UP AND AT EM " TYPE JUST DONT CUT THE MUSTARD , BELIVE ME IVE SEEN ENOUGH ....... YOU SEE LADS..... DOGS THAT SIT BEHIND THEM AND BOX EM OFF THE WOODS , DYKE ETC , WEAR THEM DOWN AND PICK THEM UP STYLE HAS BEEN PROVEN ...... MIGHT NOT BE AS FLASHY AS A DOG STRIKING LIKE MAD WHILE SINKING UP TO ITS CHEST IN THE BLACK LANDS ....... BUT ITS WHAT KILLS HARES ......... SIMPLE AS ...........! EASY HARES ....... WELL ..... IMO IF YOU WANT EASY HARES RUN THEM ON THE MOORLAND .,........ IVE SEEN MANY DOGS INCAPABLE OF TAKING DAYTIME HARES ON GOOD GROUND MURDER THEM ON THE TOPS ....... STROLLER , I WILL NEVER DECRY THE FERRETING DOG ....... HOWEVER ....... A DOG INCAPABLE OF TAKING A HARE AND A DEER TO ME WILL ALWAYS BE SECOND CLASS ALL THE BEST DUCKWING This might come as a surprise to you Wingnut...... but I don't give a flying f**k what you think!!! As for your I've killed hares from Caithness to Kent rant.... I don't think I'm alone when I say.... Who gives a f**k!!! My auld pappy use to say...... Look around you and see which ones the dick, there is always one..... if you cant see him... must be you. Anyhow, as a mere guy who doesn't need to brag where I've killed hares and alas, since this f*****g thread is aimed for me, I'll give my opionion as I feel.... The dog never showed me nothing special.... was boring... Aye it finally killed a couple of close slips but if this is the be all end all of the super race of Saluki we are led to believe the errrr chosen few are silently breeding then forgive me while I have a wee chuckle.... HAW HAW HAW But hey.... you cream your pants by all means... hello baw, that type of dog aint my cup of tea either.BUT if you and i were down the big land way,WE would probably appreciate that dog more.horses for courses auld pal Hey benny, we both know that to be true but where is the fun in that? I prefer the old heavily baited swim method rather than the back slapping if you know what I mean. Still, all said and done.... I genuinely wouldn't cross the road to see that dog run. i know exatly what your saying.but without these dogs ,where would our types be .i dont want to see the saluki in my dogs but i like to know there is a bit of saluki lining to there lungs. as for the back slappers.agreed.but what does my opinion mean to the kings of coursing, EXACTLY!!! Hit the nail on the head mate. Its not the dogs I dislike.... although they are shite. Its the folk who run them. You'd think the only decent running ground was the fens and the only test for a dog was catching a hare on the fens. You then get so called experts telling you that unless you haven't run on the fens you know f**k all!!! Well hello!! my eyes don't deceive me, I know what a shite course looks like and see that forley cup pish... what a crock of shit. Honestly mate, I know I slatted it before and got grief from your pal endgame in the process but I can only say what I've seen and it was crud!!! I got told on here but someone who will remain anonymous ahem (Darcy) who told me that they are breeding some super saluki and only the coursing folk know about it. What he really meant was the small clique who think the coursing world revolves around them are inbreeding salukis and the rest of us should drool. Its the way they speak down to you that rips your knitten. Honestly, hand on heart.... I wouldn't swap a packet of lemon bon bons and an out of date strawberry yogurt for any of there so called wonder dogs. not all saluki or saluki crosses plod you run them in normal fields they learn to pressure like any other breed sometimes them that stay pressuring from start to finish in the small fields don'tpressure as much when there on fenland they no they have time you say there plodders but they kill 6/6 hares well if there plodding and taking 6/6 thats some work for a dog the fens are great for the harecoursing people cause you can see/video most the course if you can run six hares and watch all the courses its a lot better then running six hares and watching hardly any off the coursing unless [bANNED TEXT] running about like an headless chicken if you go to the fens with a saluki you no your going for a days coursing you go with out else it would be a couple of hours coursing at best i also prefere watching a good course rather than kick up an hare and it be dead in seconds but each to there own  Quote Link to post

its ma baw 51
As Maw baw has disappeared... Roxy, the ultimate dog what is the best in your opinion? Since it was 1 in the f*****g morning, I wonder where I disappeared to.... As for your question, there are loads of crosses will take down a hare no problem. If I could be arsed I would list them for you. As for the ultimate dog, there isn't such a thing and here lies the crux of the whole argument. Its you lot that think the saluki is the ultimate dog and all the others are shite. That is why the saluki gets so much stick on here. A certain man took up one of your challenges from this site and ran against your saluki warriors on your own door step and I believe he beat you. Now the guy is a joke figure on here by guys who should no better but thats the way this "sport" is..... full of bed knobs and bumchums..... Quote Link to post
