Just made strawberry jam and its perfect, god im good! :whistling:

We went picking strawbs at one of those pick your own spots and had a great time and it was unbelievably cheap too, about a quarter price of supermarkets/grocers. Not as cheap as my allotment still but i dont get vast numbers from there.

Anyway, after eating our fill from the 5lb or so we picked i made jam a couple of days ago, and used the rest up on some more jam this morning.

Good on ya, mate :) I get a real buzz out of making my own stuff; you know what goes in it, and it's waaaay nicer than processed food.

I also think it's nice to do hampers for christmas pressies for friends, filled with all the good things you've preserved/baked/bottled etc.

Nice one Trappa we always make jam with our straws too after the first flowering just them and cane sugar done in about twenty minutes they reckon its hard to get it to set i only rinse the strawbs and it sets great our lass has just done last years damsons that were still in the freezer and put them through a sieve this time no stones or peel seems better for it.

Do you do pickles too mate atb

I'm hoping for a good crop off our damson trees this year, but ours are destined for damson gin, and after the fruit has been soaked and strained off, i stone them and dip them into melted chocolate to make liqueurs.
