Branch 0
Hello just been asked if I would be interested in mole catching on a local golf course. I have no problem with catching the moles but I've never been paid to do it before and was just wondering how would I go about pricing such a job. Would you charge by the acre or a fixed fee for the year. If anybody can help me by giving me the going rate for a mole catching I would be very grateful. Quote Link to post
Spike01 0
Hi Branch, I have contracts where I charge either by the mole and others where they pay me a fixed rate for the year. Depends on where it is and who it’s for. On a golf course I would try and get them to go for a contract but really it’s up to you and how much you want to earn out of it. Work out an hourly rate and how long you think it going to take…..see what they say. Some you win, some you loose. Cheers Spike Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,281
DOING IT FOR A GOLF COURSE. CHARGE A SET FEE, TRY TO ESTIMATE HOW LONG ITS GOING TO TAKE YOU EACH WEEK. FOR EXAMPLE IF ITS GOING TO TAKE 3 HOURS TO SET YOUR TRAPS THEN 2-3 LIFTING TRAPS . TOTAL 6 HOURS AT AT LEAST £10 AN HOUR , AND UP TO £20 AN HOUR. THE THING WITH GOLF COURSES IS THE NEED CHECKING REGULAR , OR IF YOU GET THE GREEN KEEPER TO CALL YOU WHENEVER HE GETS A BREAK OUT ANYWHERE. THE OTHER THING WITH GOLF COURSES IS NOT USING MARKERS FOR YOUR TRAPS , I USED TO DO LITTLE DRAWINGS IN MY DAIRY WHERE EACH TRAP WAS LEYED. THE BEST ADVISE IS GET A CONTRACKT OUT OF THEM , FOR MOLES AND BUNNYS TOMO Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
golf course's can be a pain in the a@*e,people nicking your traps, kicking them over, grounds man running them over with the lawn mower, but they are a good source of income. I have 3 golf courses on my books and ive approached them in all the same manner. no1. get them to agree a long term arrangment, 6 or 12mths no2. get them to agree a price and stage payments no3. get them to agree that they will replace any stolen or damaged traps at market value no4. get it all down on a signed piece of paper. price wise i look at cost spent traveling to the job, time spent checking the traps and resighting. all you have to do then is consider how much value you put apon your skills(your wages) Ok, some days it will take you longer to do your rounds but once you start the time spent soon becomes less and less so your earnings against time spent grows. it all depends on what you want to get out of it. do you go for the fast buck and charge high or look at it as a longterm(many years)steady sideline to your income. as you said you know how to trap moles and this is what they are paying you to do,remember THEY NEED YOU to rid them of thier moles, your the one doing the service so dont de-value your skills. all the best in this venture Quote Link to post

Guest houndblair
Its a real pain on a golf course, all the doogooders removing your traps and giving thme into the office only for them to give back to you!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
Guest rattdog
Im doing gophers and rats at a adult day care located in a rural area quite a bit of land. working out great. id like to get a couple of golf courses in my possesion, sounds good with the moles Id say take it up and get a contract to replace lost or stolen traps and I think youd do good, as far as price Id charge what ever my time is worth to me. proffesionals here in the states charge alot and usually send some underpaid disgruntled nitwhit to do the job for them and rip the land owner off. If you enjoy killing vermin, and I know I do, theyed be lucky to have you and pay you what your worth...the land owner Im working for now gives me 50.00 a month even tho I offered just for permission to hunt on his land. It covers my gas and traps when the coyotes steal them. besides he mentioned he gets coons and possums in the barn and attics from time to time so thats payment enough for me just need my little black dog to come of age.groud squirrels and bunnies are in the pot as well. somtimes there are better rewards than money, but if you can get paid as well.... then thats even better good luck.
