im with you all the way mate,someone did once tell me i was supposed to listen to the big man at the front of the class, after all he was the f*****g maths teacher,oh well to late now,i can count me wages though thats all that matters

not a dig mate but some young little whelp tryed to give me all the bulshite how is dog was breed 9/15 grey 1/15 bull AND THE REST WAS JUST BULLSHIT

so i told the soft get to stop talking shit coz its a fecking lurcher and if it dont work it might as well be 14/28 SHIT LOL :wankerzo4:

some people get touchy about how the dog is bred me i dont give a flying feck as long as it works!! it was the same in the 's with the rosette hunters my old dog used to come third in a 2 dog ring but he would work anything lol

Not sure when all those fractions arrived into the lurcher world, never heard of it before till this site, wrecks my f*****g head, like bloody stamp collecting fitting everything in its correct order, seems lads just wont except ,,its a collie lurcher or its saluki with a bit of bull in there,,half bred or 3/4 is straight forward enough,,anything else is stamp collecting,,,There are no surefire fractions in the animal world, you pay your money and you make your choice, after that its 100% up to you,,

fair point mate, ive had lurchers from 83 till now, and had all types xs.As long as you go worker to worker you are in with a chance. But with all lurchers you (got) have a base line (1x) to start with, then its up to you where you go from there. The only prob with lurchers with a few other breeds in it, you really (dont) know what will come out, (to much of this- to much of that.?) But regards work abilty it should make no differnce. As both parents should be good workers, if you chose right to beagin with.

when you start breeding lurcher to lurcher it can get confusing saying theres a lot of this a bit of that a lot more of this, people want to know a lot more about a dog these days, i wouldnt buy a lurcher these days without knowing the quantitys in the mix, helps you know how a dog will develop + what problems you might run into as your pup develops

I agree all that matters is that the dog works - but when you are breeding it's handy to know the rough percentages because breeding lurcher to lurcher can throw all sorts of pups and possibly if there is too much of a certain breed then the offspring may not be able to do the job that their parents can.

the way its going these young un's will want to have DNA and a family tree printed out for them. the trouble is they go on site's like this and some daft sod will say you got to get the right percent of this or the dogs wont be right!! like i said all i knew what was in my old dog was a 1/2 cross deerhound grey coz my old man bred the bitch and my mates old scruffy looking b*****d thing but every pup worked on the deer it was legal then
