WILF 46,811
Hoping to get to this on Wed the 21st of July 2010 anyone been or planning on going http://www.eastofengland.org.uk/hunting.html Dont expect load of stalls and various forms of hunting represented, its almost exclusively for Hunts. If you like hounds and all that go,s with that then you will enjoy it. I think its a good show and enjoy it. Quote Link to post
Hannah4181 260
I go every year, as Wilf has said it is only really aimed at hunting with hounds. There is probably the best examples of fox hounds that you'll see from all over the country and a variety of beagles, harriers, blood hounds and bassets. Deer hounds normally get a good turn out too. The introduction of the indoor show ring last year has made it a bit of a pain for photography, but there is still plenty to see outside. This year we've got some strong hounds in the Old English ring, very excited!! Quote Link to post

JR Yipp 111
take a camera!! best thing you can do is get there early.... find the hound area that your interested in, most of the activity will be around the covered area surrounded by kennels. there's some very good "real life" shots to be had, huntsmen putting hounds in kennels, collecting ring etc. if you want to photograph the hounds showing, push your way in early and go the collecting ring end with you back to toilets, get in that corner stood up and you will see it all. there are different areas for old English, bassets, beagles, terriers etc, but noone really cares about them anymore info you want just drop me a pm Quote Link to post
Hannah4181 260
Are you getting dressed up like Ascot or slumming it?...... Undecided as yet . . i've got members enclosure passes, but i like doing the photography too, up close and personal covered in hound slober! So i may go smart/casual and slip between the two . . . . more often than not will be found around the kennels though. DHDD . . . . Like i said the whole show used to be outside, with just an undercover, old fashioned canopy style show ring, lots of the other hounds were shown in lovely old put together cattle pens, photography oppurtunity was amazing as there was so much to see! The new big building that holds most the fox hound showing now, for me ruins it somewhat for obvious lighting issues. Its ok, on a sunny day you get some nice results and there's always tones going on outside. The beagles are housed in the car park and there's normally a few of them on the loose, causing mayhem . . The inter hunt relay finals are held there as well, so you'll get some nice jumping shots. Always a broad spectrum of people too, some dressed up to the nines, others in kennel coats . . . . i doubt you'll be lost for subjects put it that way. Quote Link to post
