Advice Wanted

Recommended Posts

I am sure this question has been asked many times before! However, my brain is getting frazzled. We have started looking for a lurcher pup and are struggling to decide on which type. We mainly want one for rabbiting, on fairly smallish fields, with lots of rushes, and hilly in places. We aren't too bothered on size but possibly the ground we have dictates what we can have?

We have a 2 year old son, as well as a cat and border terrier living in the house, and german wirehaired pointers in the kennel. We are wanting a type that can fit in with our life. (Lurcher will live in the house). We also have ferrets so will be wanting to use a lurcher with them as well.

We have experience of training wires, spaniels, borders, pointers, setters so are fairly experienced in a variety of characters and temperements.

We originally thought beddie x whippet but not so sure. We want something with isn't particularly fiery and I have read (rightly or wrongly), that these can be. We were thinking of possibly collie in the mix but not sure. I have wanted a lurcher for 20 years and I am really wanting a roughcoated/brokencoated one - that is really the only specification on looks that I am after.

Can someone point us in the right direction please. Mainly what mix would suit us and, if there are any litters of that type.

I really appreciate any help you can give.

Helen

with whot you want it for, rabbits, small fields, rushes you will be looking for a small type with good initial speed and a good nose. possibly a three quater bred beddy whippit would come close to whot your looking for.

Theirs a chap on here with some grey/beddy x 3 quarter grey/collie pups after having had exspirience of this type of lurcher this would be my choice in your position for the type of land and dog you require. That touch of collie in them can make them that bit easier to train and biddable.atb dell
