:11: I just went down the off licence for her, she wanted some beers, so she seems happy with that for now.:laugh::laugh:

I think she will come round. But, she has said it cant come in the house  . As its only 13 weeks old, it might get cold which im worried about a wee bit. Although, she will be in a wooden shed, 10ft x 8 ft and a straw bedding for her to sleep on.

I was thinking i would get a heat lamp for her, what you all think? or would she be fine without one?

Thanks,

Frank.

i would think the wife should be warm enough in the shed :11:

Phase one:

Make sure the wife gets to see how cute the pup is (very easy)

Phase two:

Get the wife to put the pup in the shed at night. Make sure wife is wearing just a thin shirt.

ps well insulated wooden shed with straw/hay bedding will be fine but don't tell the wife :)

My 9 week old pup is in the shed with no heating and she is fine. Dont worry about it mate just give her plenty of bedding to keep warm. You could allways fill up a bottle with hot water and put it under a blanket in her bed if you wanted to but its certainly not needed.

I'd disagree with you Witton, whippets feel the cold more than most dogs, and not having the pups litter mates to huddle up to, she will be cold by her self and then she will cry all night,

a heat-lamp just for the night time through the winter is a must for whippet puppies living outside IMO, a hot water bottle is ok (I wouldn't without checking on it every hour or so), beacuse it must be wrapped in a blanket or towel to save the pup burning, and the pup must not be able to get to it and chew it, plus a few hours later and it becomes cold again,

heat lamp on a chain is much better, and they are only cheap on ebay, I got mine for £22 it's a reptile infa red one and it keep my pups happy and warm (even though mine are in the house, I find it settles them if they are nice and warm) and I have seen cheaper one too.
