Hold that thought, don't waste your money on these boots. They are rank. Both me and a mate got a pair and were given the speel about "all the grouse keepers are using them, etc etc" My mate got his at a game fair in July and by December they were holed,i got mine the start of last season and by midway through the scratchproof coating was rubbed off in 4 places, allowing the boot to let in water worse than sandals. My advice would be to steer well clear of Black islanders. Ali Pasha 0
Yep, I'd go with that. Bought a pair for season 08/09 for beating/shooting. They're were the mutts' until all the snow in January this year when both boots failed epically at the sole/boot joint and I ended up very wet and cold feet. 'Phoned Hamish at Blackislander to be quizzed about whether I'd been drying them out on a radiator, etc. (like I'm an idiot) and then told well "Quite a few of my customers are quite happy if they last a season;they think they've done really well". Well sorry, pal, but if I shell out the thick end of 200 notes on a pair of boots, I expect them to last more than about eighty outings. Am I wrong? So I wouldn't touch anything BlackIslander again. I'm buying Lowa mountain boots for this season on the recommendation of a couple of mates - and if you check some of the army forums it's pretty much what a lot of the squaddies are wearing and rating. If those guys don't know what's a decent pair of boots then who does? BlackIslander? Don't waste your money! Quote Link to post

Ive still got a pair of lowa mountain boots that I bought almost 8 years ago and they are now a bit worn but are still like slippers I have recently bought a new pair of boots for stalking (Meindl) but the lowas are still going strong and have been relegated to the gardening Quote Link to post
