stroller 341
I have two lurchers aged 3 years old and 14 months who just arent interested in running the lure at shows etc, both are game dogs who work well (The pup is still being entered). this lack of interest does not obviously affect their working ability or prey drive on live game. in the case of the pup she is a bright dog and seems to have it sussed that its not real without trying, and the saluki x had a couple of gos at it and decided to pack in as it was just a bag. is it mainly strongly whippet/greyhound blooded dogs that run the lures or do the bitza lurchers run it as well? im not knocking lure coursing as i love to watch it Quote Link to post
brendy mc l 694
if u were a lurcher would u chase a bag most lurchers will chase at first but will soon catch on and then have no intrest waste of time in my eyes but each to there own Quote Link to post
Fabapocalypse 35
Mine will chase anything! He knows the difference (and you can see he knows the difference), but he loves the lure. Keeps busting muzzles on it at the finish. He's a bit bully and therefore not the fastest but he's exciting to watch, he has a whale of a time, and fun is what it's about as far as I'm concerned. poacherman 353
ma dog was the same down at the hawick show. ma freind annoyed me to put her in the race. she ran the first one and was infront of the dog but not even looking at the lure, she kept looking around looking for the real thing. the second race she just jogged up then came running back. a knew she wouldnt pay any interest, its fun watching tho atb poacherman 1 Quote Link to post

Rory4 267
do find it interesting to watch. alot of people take it far to serious and go every show to race and then there dogs start cuttin corners on simulated cousrsing, thought they would atleast use rabbit skin or fox brush instead poxy bag. Rory4 267
quite a few people use pure greys for over 23 and say are bitzas. the racing organisers at some shows no the people who go everytime and let there dogs do want and favour them which is bit sad. Quote Link to post

A lot of whippet/greyhounds are bred for racing and simulated coursing, very popular down south. Quote Link to post
