lightforce lamp for my rapid

i am looking to buy a lightforce 170 striker for my theoben rapid and attach it to the scope so i can go out alone.i have read the specifications of them and i think they are one of the best lamps i can get.

 

if anyone has one could they please let me know what they are like before i depart with my cash.

In my opinion they are too big and a bit of an over kill for air rifle work.

In my opinion they are too big and a bit of an over kill for air rifle work.

If you are planning on using a red filter you might get away with it, if not then its way too powerful for air rifle ranges, then again if you get the variable version you will have the best of both worlds. atb nasher

I've got it mounted under my air cylinder, but I often put it on my scope.

 

I then got a cheap duracell torch from home bargains with a couple of filters for a couple of quid. Only wanted the filters, a couple of winds of black electrical tape round the light rim and the filters just clip on, saved myself a FORTUNE.

 

Incidently I got the sure fire/ ultrafire, because it has been proven by many guy's on here to be fantastic in the field

 

Just dont look at it when you turn it on, IT HURTS

 

Buy a couple of rechargeable batts and the charger. I paid less than £25 quid ALL IN

 

There are a few english sellers doing them on ebay, I'd reccomend MINIMUM 300 L's or higher.

 

You can also get coloured bulb units or dedicated filters for them.

The mounting system you need is cheap as well, its rubber and velcro for all size gun and lamp combinations and costs only a couple of quid

Deben LEDRAY jobs are the same as the ultrafire/surefire but with half the light throw and three times the cost!

do the ledrays have the range to scan a field though? you'd need another lamp to do that, especialy with a red filter/bulb.

At £85 you could get a wide choice of others.

I might be wrong but im not sure you can dim an LED, as far as im aware, its all or nothing

Once they are on, you can increase the voltage until it gets very bright and hot then they either melt or as they often did just crack open and fail.

 

One of our favourite tricks was to stick a 12 volt capacitor 100uf into the 240V rails. They sound like a shotgun and it snows but a bit whiffy though, sorta like fish
