hi,

i have only just got a aa s410 carbine second hand, and its only pushing out about 9.00 lbs,it only just knocks a coke can over at 30yards with a bent,my brothers webley mk3 smashes the coke can at the same distance, its only about 6 months old and not had that much use,its a really clean gun, what can i do to get it up to 12lb pressure?

its really pi**ing me off as i thought these guns had a really good name?

i cant go out hunting with it as it wouldnt kill anything properly and that aint right!

if any body can give me some good advice i would really appreciate it.

you can pm me if need be.

thanks TL.

This isnt the gun that was advertised a few weeks ago, going at a cheap price because it was only 9ftlbs?

To be honest, if its only denting a coke can at 30 yards its a heck of a lot less than 9ftlbs as even a weak springer with 5ftlbs would go clean through a coke whether its empty or full.

If however this isnt the gun advertised cheap because of its low power, I would suggest contacting the person who sold it to you, especially if they were aware its was down on power and failed to tell you.

Failing that send it back to Air Arms if its an anti-tamper model, or possibly your local gunsmiths if its a pre-anti tamper model.

I have a brand new .22 s410 and its best is 11.5ftlbs, they will never set them much higher than that as there are so many variables, being unregulated, that may put them over 12ftlbs.

Hey there TL,

First of all how much are you sticking in the air cylinder? If your filling it to the max DONT, because that will usually cause it to run very low and erratic intil you get into the sweet spot of the power curve.

Think the S400 is around 175-180 bar down to about 100 or 110 bar.

Once in this pressure range, your accuracy and power will rise dramatically.

The reason as Mark mentioned is they are unregged. when you fill it above its sweet-spot, the pressure in the Air cylinder closes the valve before the right amount of air can be released.

Once into that curve, the hammer will open the valve all the way and it will be the valve return that closes the valve and not the extra pressure.

If you have a chrono just keep putting lead through it until your shots become consistant in power.

Then count how many shots you get until it starts to become erratic again.

hi all,

davy,i have answered your pm,thanks.

markha,no it wasnt that cheap one advertised the other day, this one wasnt even advertised just word of mouth.

phantom,i must admit i pumped it up to 200bar as instructed, and put quite a few pellets through it untill it went down to around the 100bar mark but there wasnt no change in power?

when you say that they arnt regulated,is there a regulater i can buy to put on it or does it not work like that?,im new to these pcp guns and only ever had the spring and pump types.

Well, ive got a s410 carbine, and mines putting out 11.5 at the moment. Ive a chrono and find that it doesnt matter if i fill it to 190bar or if its runing only 120bar, it still puts out 11.5ish. So you dont need to get a regulator just yet.

tillylamp - there is defiately something not right with your gun. Is it the anti-tamper model? If it isnt, then you can adjust the power up slightly easily. But, id only do this if you have access to a chrono so you can make sure its still legal. If its the anti tamper - or if your in doubt, id take it down to your local gunsmith. They will be able to give it a full service, and adjust its power for you.

The s410 is a cracking gun and very very accurate out to 45yards plus. Once you have it setup nicely you`ll love it! Ive had dozens of rabbits as well as pigeons and magpies with mine since I got it.

hi davy do these pics help? it looks like brass?

is it pre at or at. well my s410 was anti tamper when i bought it, but the blank plug/ shear bolt was steel not brass an my lads pre at 400 just has a allen bolt blank plug not seen the brass plug before but i am new to this pcp lark. but that brass thing will definately stop you having a tamper so it is anti tamper.
