prefared bedding

just wondering what is the prefared bedding for ferrets, i have a two tier hutch with a sleeping compartment. (in the process of building a run for them) i have sheets of news paper for on the floor of the hutch and shredded news paper for bedding, is this adiquit or is straw or saw dust the way forward??

I use a mixture of shreaded paper and sawdust for the run and just shreaded paper for their bedding, My Mum gets it by the binbag for me so its all free!!

i use hay and sawdust in the winter months and depending on how warm it is in the summer months id either use sherreded paper and sawdust or about 2 inches of sawdust if it 2 warm plus your ferret will remove what it doesnt want in it bed

hay covers my court floor as its concrete and court is pretty big and high.could easily break bones from falling.bedding a cpl of old jumpers or t shirts in this weather.during winter hay inside the bedding quarters.always shavings in the other part of hutch.

I use fleece's for bedding. Then in the corners, wood pellets/few layers of newspaper.

Wood chippings and shredded newspaper for summer. Old bits of clothing in the nest for winter.

Am the same, think its easy to keep on top ov, change the bedding every few days and the corner before and after work. No dramas with the weather because i have chopped up the fleece's and they rag it about as they please.

thanks, have a shredder myself and the lads handing out the metros at the train station are only a few yards from my house so they give me what they have left over. thanks for replies.

You dont wanna be useing sawdust or wood chippings its wood shaveings you want.

I use shavings but just lately ive been getting red cedar wood shaving and you can smell the differnce in the hutches
