Many moons ago myself my bro and his mate were out for a mooch with my bro,s whippet and his mates 26 tts beddy/greyhound x bull/greyhound when they put a fox up and the big dog grabbed it and soon let go when it nipped him on the snout and the whippet stayed in there and finished the job off whilst the big dog stood there feeling sorry for its self

Goes back to that old saying Its the size the fight in the dog not the size of the dog in the fight,

But pure whippets anit going to be your first choich if your after a foxing dog, There size alone holds them back i think (i prefere types that can pick up off the floor and give a good shake), And then you got there skin that tears like tissuse paper and do take abit of stick,

But then again iv seen little 18 '' whippety dog smash foxed to bits pre-ban,

So yes whippets can kill fox (pre ban)

O aye they will do them alright. I know a man who only keeps whippets and pretty much exclusively uses them to hunt fox single handed. They make short work of them and don't get too badly hurt. You just need to get the right dog. I have also seen a dog thats under 20 inch being used regular to pull down fallow, and it can deal with a stag no probs.
