Its got to be a box but i remember as a lad it would always be bags from bank bags to ones my mother would make similar to the slipper bags at school the bags never caused no distress to the ferrets some lads even carried them in big wooley socks.

my dad said the same nearly word for word lol

Thanks for the response, and all the genuine points. When i think ferret bag, poacher does immediately spring to mind, and I can see the pro's and con's for using them, its got to beat ferret legging for start! But if poacing isnt the agenda I can see it bein far more beneficial using a box and its not like there too expensive or a great hardship to make eather.

Another point if lads are ferreting with a few terriers for marking up and bushing a ferret box is always good to have in veiw as the site of terriers and spades can lead to some numpty phoneing the authorities about lads badger digging.

i dunno, a bag would be more like a nest in a way......never had one for a ferret but when i was about 12 i had a pet norweigan hooded rat, he would spend alot of time sat on my shoulder but when he was bored or tired he would go back into the bag to sleep or to hide food,

i often end up with a sore shoulder carrying my ferret box as it is quite heavy......

i wouldnt rule the bag out entirely.

Until you inadvertently stand on it, or have to put in down in the snow :hmm:

Depends where we are and how long were out for...

If it an hour out with the terrier and a few nets then the ferret goes in a bag and in my poachers pocket...

If your out for the full day in all weather then its a box...simples
