Does anyone know of any where that would take between 30-60 rabbits a week in the Canterbury area of Kent. We go out lampin once or twice a week and are looking for a good home for the rabbits we shoot. most are shot with a 17HMR in the head. We are not looking to get any money for these rabbits just want them to be made use of.

You could try :

any of your local butchers/game dealers (if they are skinned and gutted you could get £1.30 each if they are head shot)

local bird of prey centre might well appreciate them

put a post on the ferreting forum...good ferret food

Where abouts near Canterbury? There are quite a few pubs that will take them which specialise in game. I know that the hop pocket at Bossigham has taken them in the past. If your local has a good chef why not offer them to them? I used to do it when I lived near Tunbridge wells, plus on the up side you can barter them for a few beers.

Sorry to go off topic but if you ever want someone to go with you I looking for some more local shooting, I moved to Ehlham about 2 years ago and still havent found anything local! All my permissions are an hour away. Hope thats not too cheeky!

All the best

I take to working men club , £2 each, x3 £5 ,clean in bag.

Clint I hate to be the one to break this to you mate but £2 each or 3 for £5 means you are being seen off ;)

Perfectly normal treacle, called a bulk buy discount! ;)

Not sold any for a while, but when I was £2 each would have been a pretty good price. We used to get £3.50 a brace cleaned and skinned!

Never did discount mate. After I'd skinned and gutted them I wanted the full whack. Don't do it anymore, would rather hedge them than bother my arse to gut and skin for a couple of quid.

Thanks everyone for the sound advice. Will get in touch with a few local pubs and game dealer. Shame to leave them out for fox food. Seems crazy in this ecconomic climate that more people are not turning to eating what they shoot. I know of a shoot in Sussex where they shoot 2000 plus pheasants a day on their sold days and then they dig a hole with a jcb and burry them. If this doesn't get game shooting a bad name then I dont know what will.
