my new friends first pike

while i was out fishing for pike yesterday i met a lad standing out in the water on a rock.

he was using a spear which i thought was very unusual.

after watching him for some time i called him over and we got chatting, he said he had lost all his fishing gear on his way to ireland and had no choice to use the spear as he had nothing else to use.

so having a spare rod in the boot i lent it to him.

he was only spinning for about 5 minutes before he hooked into this little beauty and after a short fight landed it and had his picture taken.

 

he said he was hungry so there and then lit a small camp fire, gutted the fish and ate it there and then.

well it was time to go and he said he had nowhere to stay so i told him he could camp in a tent i have in my back yard.

we hope to do a lot more fishing soon

well he told me his name was bobby and that he was doing a bit of travelling here and there.

he cooked that one.
