billy bronk 76
i`ve had lurchers for 27 years and the most i`ve ever paid for a dog was 50 quid, so who ever pays 850 for one is off there head, so youve only ever bought cheep, craply bred dogs then. when did you last buy one 1985 or something. just because there cheap dont mean there crap not every body is after money id rarther rehome a dog for nothing if i know it would be looked after Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Just been to papershop and picked up a copy, what a joke, the sire looks like he has the agility and grace of a disabled obese walrus, the add state sire has strength and stamina "feck off". I also read a ratting article where, and I quote "a rat that was at least 17 inches long flew at me, actually biting into the stick I was carrying" They also mention being "armed" with a metal bar, what a complete joke These folks that breed stupid crosses and charge pathetic money in my opinion are just as bad as peddlers and dealers.......... That comment sums up whats going wrong with the lurcher scene ! Outside , ive two young dogs , one is a bitch out of Mr Poachs , black dogs , take a look at the parents faces and see if they are crap - i paid nothing for her as he knew she would be looked after and worked well . The other is brother to Taffybulls red dog , both parents tested to the max, - i paid for the jabs ! Years ago lads bred pups for themselves and pups were free to mates ,it still goes on amongst the right lads , thats why the best dogs are never for sale , let the mugs pay the silly prices for crap . well said, Quote Link to post
canis lupus 1
If people will pay pver £1000 for a lab x poodle they will pay £850 for this x breed, I can't even see it even being a good worker. Feel sorry for the dam having to carry such large pups. I payed half of that for my line bred show Golden Edited July 8, 2010 by canis lupus Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Look at the guy. . . . he's clearly troubled. He also doesn't actually show the pups much considering they are 6 months old. Would be interesting to see them work. Maybe we are missing something - one of them drives his motor, one holds the lamp, theres a couple out in the field running game and the spare bitches are up telegraph poles watching out for the keeper/farmer? O and they make a good cup of tea. Quote Link to post

Nearly bought it yesterday myself Simo but 'restrained' myself, i wouldn't give that mag the credit of paying the price for it! Everything about it is lame, that ad is just one of many that discredit the working dog world. You know, the really sad thing is, someone will buy those pups at that price and just before they part with their hard earned cash, will be told of the 'virtues' of such a cross and how they will excell in the field! Shame on the seller, shame on the mag! I'll bet that someone reading this thred knows of this muppett, well if you do then shame on you too!! As for the rag (I don't even want to call it a mag!), i've posted on it a few times and been shot down by a few on here for slating it, funny, your all quiet now...? Those who have had a pop said that 'we/I' should pen our own articles, if we don't like the content and 'change it' that way but does anyone think it'll make any difference, does anyone think they'll publish decent, genuine articles from decent, genuine folk? If they wanted too, i'm sure they could, they have stood next to some top dogmen at some of the bigger shows, the Welsh for one, sponsoring classes, they know who writes for the likes of EDRD, everyones a free agent, they could approach them, they could change the face of their rag.... Would they, would they shite! Why, because it sells...!!! The Countrymans does nothing but discredit the working dog world, we only have one choice, hit 'em where it hurts, DON'T BUY IT!!!!! Sorry, morning rant over... Quote Link to post

Casso 1,261
The ad reflects the mentality of the magazine, its for easy influenced people with little or no experience in the field, 1 Quote Link to post
