.410 cart for close up fox.

Recommended Posts

i take it by garden work you mean trapped foxes? or snared?

Any .410 cart from very close (point blank) will make it dead.....if aimed at the head

to be honest mate not had any experience in such situations....only ever shot foxes in agricultural surroundings with a 12gauge.

Have a .410 myself but wouldn't use it for a fox unless it was trapped.....10-15ft i reckon any cart would slow it down ....is your gun a multi shot or a single shot? as i reckon it would take more than one cart to dead it

I think the optimum fox cart though is BB in 12gauge

As in 10 to 15 ft or more. I know you can use .22rf as well as long as shot into the ground.

Or wouldn't you recommend it.

Thanks

Hello mate, I certainly wouldn,t reccomend shooting a .22rf into the ground because you cannot be sure what lies beneath the surface, a ricochet could prove disastrous. 10 to 15 ft is only 5 yards and imo a .410 would put the fox down ok but as compo has said the ultimate fox cartridge is the old 12 gauge BB. Cheers

hi rich,

all you'll need is a 2 1/2" sub sonic, plenty enough to do the job, its all I ever use, quite as I use it in a hushpower pedretti

held around 1/2" from top of skull it gives a entrance hole about the size of 5p and is an instant humaine kill

never needed more than one shot

using it that close does not give the shot time to expand when leaving the barrel, thus its like firing a solid block of lead
