Nathan_R 10
Yes, I use JSB Exacts, and get on really well with them. I've also used AA Fields, and the JSB's shoot just as well as the AA's from my experience. Price wise, they're about the same (maybe 50p cheaper or so) from where I get them, so it hasn't saved me a fortune. Another thing I've noticed is that a tin of JSB's seems to have less damaged pellets than a tin of AA's, but maybe I've just been lucky with that. Has anyone used FX Pellets? I've been told they're just as good as AA's and JSB's and I was wondering if this was true? Quote Link to post
Ron Weasley 83
I've never tried JSBs or FX pellets, but have read great things about both. I've used Accupells almost exclusively since they first appeared on the scene. They were recommended by the gunshop when I bought my HW95K all those years ago, and they performed so well, it seemed silly to change. When I purchased my BSA R10 last year, the rifle was supplied with a tin of RWS Superdomes. I was disappointed with these, the R10 seemed to spit them out all over the place. As I had plenty of Accupells around the house, I tried these out, and again, I find them absolutely brilliant. I'm wary to try anything else, as I don't want to end up with tins of pellets kicking around that I don't use. That said, I will be buying another rifle soonish, in the .177 flavour, so I'll be open to new comers then, and I think JSBs will be high on my 'to try' list. Maybe we could set up some kind of THL Pellet Exchange on here? I admit I have NO IDEA how it would work, but might be worth thinking about between us? Cheers Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
I've been thinking of buying a load if tins of pellets and making up "trial packs" for people, so when they buy a new rifle they can buy maybe 20 of a variety of pellets and try them out to see which performs best. Would anyone be willing to buy a pack? I reckon maybe offer about 10 different pellets, £2 per type. Works out at a lot per pellet, but cheaper than buying a whole tin, and you can try several. Anyone interested? I'd need to know I could sell a few before I laid out on the pellets! Maybe dealers could offer them with a new rifle too? 1 Quote Link to post

Something like that already exists mate, PellPacks I think they're called. Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
I saw those, but wasn't very impressed by the pellet selection, and they don't seem to do any options, just a standard pack. I'd also be looking at tailoring packs for different guns from user experience, so for example someone buys a 97k, I will be able to give them a list of pellets that others have used successfully in that rifle. Just seems to me there's scope there, with a little thought and work, to offer a far better service than the pelpacks people! Quote Link to post

You're right about the selection in Pellpacks....Milbro Caledonians and Marksman pellets? I can't imagine many people are going to splash several hundred pounds on a decent rifle and use those pellets, are they? I'd suggest more than 20 pellets would be required though to get an idea, based on my experience anyway. Bearing in mind that zero can alter quite dramatically with different pellets. Maybe 50 pellets, but limit to a selection of 5 or 6 brands? If you could pitch that to the major retailers, you might be on to something! Quote Link to post

spud gun 16
thats a good little idea about the tester pack of pellets. when you get a new gun it can take ages to find the right pellet for the gun and cost a lot too Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi Matt. Now that is a clever idea mate, and would help a lot of people. Re the JSB's excellent pellet used them in my HW100 and had good results. Very recently changed to AA Field though, even better results. Crazy things these air rifles ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Yep agree Bill, Guns are Crazy, but the ownersare even more so RiffRaff gave me a few hundred H&N FTT's to try in my baby as he and the guy who owned the rifle before me used to use them in it and they got very tight groups with them. Everytime I went for a tin the shops had none Anyways, I put these in my top right breast pocket as they were loose and I had a tub of FX 16 Grainers in my lower right pocket. After filling my gun and preparing it for the impending train journey I decided to stick my hunting gear into the case as well, never know might knock a few live ones over I picked up my jacket to fold it and put it in the case and all the H&N fell out onto the floor, followed by the tub of FX Needless to say I now have a variety of mixed pellets in one tub as I scraped them up from the floor! Gonna take weeks to sort them out Oh re the sample packs, yes pellpax do them but another couple of lads on here also tried them. I don't think they were very successful at the price they were doing them at. Phantom Quote Link to post
