Because your 18 year's experience Pigdogs obviously counts for f**k all. If you ever need to know anything about hunting pigs with dogs ask the Judge. I bet he's done much more pig hunting than you and your pathetic 18 years!! Hey Judge, how much pig hunting have you done to know more than a pig hunting guy from New Zealand? JR Yipp 111
Well being carefull is always beneficial with the current guilty until proven innocent mentality linked to hunting. Especially when you have people offering on a public forum to bring a lurcher/harrier/presa and......rottie to "assist" Taking dog breeds like that is just asking 4 trouble !!! a old sheep dog would be all u would need , all bark and no bite !It would be just like rounding up a sheep on a farm ... and with the go ahead from the land owner . Perfectly legal !!! o yeah a couple of sheep dogs will do it... just like rounding sheep up down on the farm......... .......... IDIOT

Ned Makim 116
I've seen heaps of sheep dogs stop boars. I don't use them because I prefer a different style but they can definitely do it. They nip and harass a boar until he stands and circles. Thousands of boars get stopped in Oz by sheep dogs every day. Any boar can fight and some fight like you wouldn't believe but in many cases a dog that just bails boars provokes way less fight than dogs that grab. Boars only use the energy required to get rid of the threat so bailing dogs do just enough to hold the boar in one spot until either holding dogs arrive or the hunter arrives and shoots the pig. I caught boars up to 175kgs dressed with two holding dogs and that was a big fight let me tell you. A lot of it is having the confidence to run in to the middle of it and back up the dogs by grabbing the boar's back leg and sticking him in the chest. Boars are tough no doubt but a dog or two and a man with a knife can roll them. You get some boars that might take a couple of hunts to stop but they can all be caught. Cheers. JR Yipp 111
well ive worked and seen lots of sheep dogs in the uk, very very few iu would even consider trying to work boar with. ive also shot and flushed boar... again none of them i would expect any of my collies to work. send a collie round any boar in our countryside and you will soon wind up in a situation of not alot of stock fencing left.... a wild ass collie disaperaing into large areas of woodland.... and some very pissed off local famers. if your going to flush these things with dogs you want strong quick dogs that wil slow them up rapidly. ive also been round domestic/semi wild pigs, none of which have ever reacted to a collie like sheep or cattle do. still if your going to try it, take some pics id love to see it.... id also be intrested in the dogs for furture breeding stock... if they can eye boar then they will shift cattle.
