Jaggsy 25
Ok apologies in advance i know this has been covered many times....i have a mate locally who has a fishing bait business, now that its colder the rats have come in and they estimate they have multiple hundreds in the storage units and shop .. although i've shot rats in the past this isn't really my area so whats the best way to deal with these kinds of numbers (feral cats are out the owner of the yard has a few dogs running about, they're worried about toxins as its bait etc.) ... also, my mate doesn't believe that plotting up and trying to shoot these kinds of numbers will have any effect advice appreciated Martin

Born Hunter 17,837
If you planned it out well before hand and maybe had a few shooters scattered around working as a team, shooting baited up areas with air rifles and lamps, then i dnt see why shooting couldnt make a good dent in the popluation after a few nights shooting (but im no expert on big infestations like that). But ive gotta agree with simoman, i think a pack of ratters would be the best approach. See what the experienced terrier lads think.

thurso jack 3
Can you get any pic's of the area in question..?.. because by the sound of it you are going to have some trouble knocking the number's down without poison..And i think terrier's would be a waste of time on what i think the place is like.. so if you dont want poison you could start setting spring trap's in the right location or live cage trap's.. Try to get a pic up .. Millet sshh millet someone could get some quality ratting here!

Guest Frank
What about a combination of ferrets and terriers? Frank.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Sounds like your mate has quite the infestation there, Jaggs. Time he's f*cked about like this and wasted time, he'll Definately have one F*ck of an infestation. Quietly suggest he stops wasting time and calls in a Professional Exterminator, mate. As he dithers, they'll be eating and spoiling more bait than a well prepared and placed regimen of proper (poison) 'Bait' will ever contaminate - if handled by a Pro, who can get his hands on the right stuff and knows how to use it. As I've said before; Air guns, cage traps, even ferrets etc. are fine for a pass time and sport on some one else ground. But if it's the real deal? Call in someone equelly Real Deal and let them handle it. It makes so much sense in so many ways. Start with enquiring at the local council .....
