Richie10 345
Which breed would you call an up and at them dog? I have a wheatenxgreyxsalukixwhippet, which would be up and at them if he wasn't so bulky. What other crosses work? I have a 3/4 saluki x grey but from opinions on here, you would think he will turn out a plodder... Cheers Quote Link to post

poacher3161 1,766
IMHO i think a lot has to do with wat type of land certain dogs are brought up on as well bred lurcher to lurcher types have the natural sense to pace their selfs on big open ground but the same dogs [some of them] will adapt to running in small feilds and will up the pace knowing they havent much time to catch the quarry. The more greyhound you breed into a lurcher you are going to get a more up and at them type but usualy to the detrement of running sense and stamina i have found in the pups i have bred out of greyhounds [bANNED TEXT] put to other lurchers. J Darcy 5,871
I have seen a few dogs of various crosses run over the years and i must confess i do like a fast 'un. We used to have a very fast lurcher to lurcher bred bitch to run when in i was in my late teens and that was a veritable speed machine, once we doubled her up with a greyhound and believe it or not she beat the greyhound to the hare. Now maybe that greyhound was not fit, or something amiss that day i cannot say, but that little 24 inch ball of muscle we had was the first to reach puss. In recent times i have been lucky to both see and own a couple of fast types but i have to say the fastest i can ever recall was a black and white bitch that was like potted lightning!! She was the result of a greyhound put to a saluki lurcher hybrid from some old bloodlines. I can honestly say i have never seen speed like it. Could stay a bit too,.... This is her......Reaching out for a February hare..... Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Thanks for all the replies guys. JD, I imagine the extra percentage of greyhound did the job, nice photo. Seen a few clips of the Whitney bitch, she seems a really fast killer. Cheers! Quote Link to post
