secretagentmole 1,701
Another vote for peanut butter here, used it in the T Rex type traps with great success. Even the cheap value stuff from Tescos. They can't seem to resist it! Quote Link to post
rogue male 8
For traps i try and find out what they have been feeding on. In one case the client reported that bags of peanuts had been targeted. 4 days of pre-baiting unset traps with peanut brittle, on the 5th day set the traps, within the hour 1 dead rat. In general you cant go wrong with peanut butter, cheaper the better. If i'm laying bait to draw them out to shoot i use a satchet of cat food, small tin of fish and a glug of cooking oil. Put this lot in a blender and make a soup like substance. Place blobs of this just off a main run(not out in open ground but near cover to give them confidence)and then wait. Due to the mixture being mainly liquid the rats have to stop and lap it up,instead of grabbing a chunk and running. Basically, as previously stated, the smellier the better. Quote Link to post
