One is for cold nights with a 12.5 TOG duvet in it, and the other has a couple of lightweight fleece blankets for warm nights. I leave it to the ferts as to which box they occupy. Temperatures this winter regularly got down to minus 18, even in the farmhouse for a good six weeks across christmas and january we ate our tea whilst wearing our coats Quote Link to post

I use the same they drag out what they dont want when its a bit hotter Spot on, i find shavings heat them up a little too much at this time of year, it doesn't help that they all insist in piling on top of each other in the bed boxs'. Ron Weasley 83 Posted July 5, 2010 Report Share Posted July 5, 2010 I just use wood shavings in the summer, just a handful in their nest boxes. I find anything else gets too warm. In the colder weather, they get a deeper layer of shavings and some hay too. Quote Link to post
