joel222 65
I bought two young jills a fortnight ago, both 8 weeks old. I built the cage below out of some scrap ply I had lying around, I'd just like to know if it is big enough to house two jills? I have been advised to buy a bottle of ferretone or use sunflower oil and let them lick it off my fingers so they don't start to bite, is this neccessary as they have never bitten me yet and been handled a couple of times a day over the last two weeks? wullieh 53
got to say it one of the best starter hutches ive seen mate you have put alot of effort into it, as for ferretone you dont need it to hand tame your ferrets and daily handling is normaly enough but it has it uses by putting it on there belly they lick it off if if you want to clip there nails. Kay 3,709
You might find that pipe that connects the two areas may need replacing if they get fairly big as they get older .. it might be a squeeze when they get there winter fat which the first year seems to be bordering on obese ... it looks narrow but it may just be me Quote Link to post
The one 8,482
Very nice mate ,i generally say 6 foot by two foot by two foot for two ferrets but thats a great setup .dont worry about getting anything to stop them biting handling them twice a day is working Quote Link to post
JoeD 24
Thats a lovely set up, just keep them handled and they will be fine. Feed them the best aswell, where possible then feed them meat not pork or salty meat though, rabbit is obviously the most ideal. All the best with them. Joe Quote Link to post

Well all I can say is I have never had to clip a ferrets nails in all the years I have kept them, some have lived into their teens.P1 Quote Link to post
