Rabbithunter 456
it depends on your ground. if there is a lot of cover you can keep your shadow hidden etc... if your standing at the top of a hill you will stick out liek a sore thumb. use stealth and you will get a few, but your best going out on a "black" night. lampdog 0
Ginge if i was you i would go for it mate... if you wait in for the weather to be right you will never get out...sometimes the moon can help if something runs out of the beam.... jay never thought of it that way mate Quote Link to post

macker 5
half of the time the reflextion of the street lights on the clouds have the place lit up. some times i just look at the moon on the way out. :11: have had great nights on all phases of the moon. and if the local fox has worked the field before you got there wont really matter what the moon is like . either side of full moon will do me Quote Link to post
mapreader 5
TO BE HONEST WHIN , IVE ALWAYS HAD REAL GOOD RESULTS ON DEER IN THE MOON LIGHT , THEY SEEM TO VENTURE FARTHER AWAY FROM COVER , ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Just to add an addendum to millets post, I personally wouldn,t be doing too much with a starting pup on moony nights....so easy to introduce tooo many faults. skinnyrat 0
got to agree with mapreader, taking a pup out on moonlit nights, imho, does them no favors, the rabbits just run straight in rather than run up and down the hedge, Quote Link to post
whin 463
to me personaly when i ran for shillings, and when the moon was out i would leave the local areas alone and go further a feild, when your out on estates were there other hunters rifle men etc i dont have all night,to chase. i prefer it over in the first feild as two or more feilds away means a rake about and leaving my self short . all the local land is keepred s basicaly a quick shine and move on ,the bits that arent keeperd well you can have a good night .i prefer not to educate beasts to much my idea is lamp on, dogs are already running bang over and done or got away ,and on to the next bit, i have ran moonlight with dogs that were hunted in the daylight so would run well at night without lamp etc had some great sport espec on bits that were hot, the only time the lamp is on is when a kill is on ,as for young dogs on rabbs in moonlight were i run now mostly winter wheat, so its a waste of time for a young dog rabbits are gone by the time the lamps on but down the scottish borders alot difffrent clappers rabbits go a feild away for chioce grub , you get your chance all the best Quote Link to post
