An hour fishing with the little lad

Recommended Posts

Decided to go for an hour with the little lad on the local river, well its more of a stream really quite small and shallow. Set up with the usual float and worm setup, was a bit slow at first and little lad was getting a bit restless when we pulled out the smallest trout of the day.

Little lad was well excited then "wanna catch a bigger one daddy" he said so on went another worm and we tried again. after about 15 mins or so float shot under again and this one felt a bit bigger. Then he jumped out the water and flew through the air about 6 foot upstream. Got the net in and pulled him out. This was the biggest of the day.

Then we moved off down stream a bit and with the first cast I saw something I never seen before, no sooner had the float hit the water a trout came up and grabbed the weights and pulled the float off in its mouth.. Lol.. He let go after a small twitch on the line though and a further 6 - 7 casts produced another 4 trout of various sizes. All caught on worm and all safely returned to the water.. Litte lad loved it. He wants to go again later on..

I agree, Its great to see the excitement they have.. Hes only 2 1/2 year old and hes well into it already.. I only get to spend the full weekend with him every other week, he lives with his mum so we try make the most of it while we can.. Although I would take him fishing every day if I could..
