UFC 116 Lesnar v Carwin

Recommended Posts

Ok, Brock gets my respect now........finally!

He couldnt stand and trade with carwin but coming back after that GnP from carwin was incredible. He was humble in victory too, im starting to like him!

We all knew he doesnt like getting hit, randy proved that, but no-one could come back from that and win.......and by submission! :notworthy:

Lesner showed awesome heart to come back from that ground and pound from Carwin  Brock showed that he's came on so much having the savvy to keep in the fight by protecting himself in that first round.......respect

he wasn't as much of a cock as he's been the past 4 fights ... someone must have talked to him, or maybe the beating he took made it sink in?

And I am sorry but just because someone is a hunter does NOT make him a guy worth respecting ... some of the biggest absolute wasters I know are hunters.

Im not one to dislike a sportsman because their not " a nice man "...and ive never watched that soppy boys wrestling.....so personally ive only really paid attention to Lesnar since he has been in the ufc and i think he has a great work ethic and attitude to fighting....i think he has embarrassed the whole sport of mma.....ok he was a top college wrestler, but the fact is a man with no fighting background has walked into mma and become world heavyweight champion in a couple of fights through sheer brute force !....

It just proves that a big strong guy with great athleticsm can overcome skill experience and technical ability......and i think that has embarrassed the sport......Lesnar is an impressive specimen and a great athlete.....and clearly thats enough to take you to a world title in mma.

Al give the big man some credit...he was beaten in his first fight because he lacked any knowledge of the sport but he went away and learned the game. He is now the complete package and it will take a tough dude to crack him.

I wasn't impressed by it if I'm honest. Carwins a clubbing cave man, who would of beaten Brock had he not been as inexperienced as he is. I know he had 12 fights to Brock's 5, but all he's had to do in each of those bouts is punch someone and they've folded, he hasn't had anything else asked of him.

Fair play to Brock for coming back, but had the ref jumped in at the time when Carwin was bashing him I don't think he would of moaned too much as IMO he looked like he had had enough until Carwin started to puff and pant and the round was nearing an end. Carwin come out finished in the 2nd round, he was f*cked and didn't really show much determination to get out of the submission Brock had him in.

I just wasn't impressed.

Fair comment, AFT, I was half expecting the ref to stop the fight 'cos Brock just curled up and seemed to give up.

Carwin's not really been tested for endurance before and he was proper fecked after putting some proper work in. Seemed dead on his feet when the second round started...

Still, respect to Brock for coming back after that battering.

Guys, mma is a VERY strange busniess, and to call Brock a 'complete fighter' is one of the funniest things ive heard...he submitted a guy who didnt want to be in the fight after he blew his wad...no real skill in that...as for 'taking such a beating', Brock hardly had a scratch on him, and very few punches/elbows landed...the postion Lesnar was in (while Carwin was doing his best to GNP him) looks the worst, but is one of the easiest to defend...hundreds of ways to defend that.

Lesnar showing he has 'heart' after the 1st round!?...is that not what fighters do?...fighting is taking AND dishing out punishment...that is just part of the game guys.

IMO, ive seen better local Amatuer heavy weight fights...i think Cain will have a better showing against Lesnar.

Lesnar is a TREMENDOUS athlete!...a physical specimen of the highest order!...he has a superb Am wrestling pedigree...nothing else...imo.

EXACTLY !!....and that has taken him to the pinnacle of the sport after a couple of fights.....to me that is an embarrassment to the sport.....all the claims of what a techincal sport mma is,Lesnar has proved good old fashioned brute force strength and athleticsm can overcome all that.

AS for the heart he showed,i would say yes he did, this is a man who has never been in a fight until recently remember. Most people who compete in sport at the highest level have done so since very young be it football boxing or whatever and by the time they are on the world stage in their sport have already proved long ago they are a natural at whatever it is....Lesnar only had his first fight a few years back...ok wrestling is competetive but its not fighting,so for me yes he showed he has enough heart to stick in there when things dont go his way....which in a man who is not used to getting punched in the face is to be admired in my opinion.

Sorry guys i cant agree.........theres 1 thing you need to fight in the cage and its "heart". Being a physical specimen is not enough or you would get every strongman and bodybuilder entering the sport and being the next champ. There are plenty big men in the sport and they get whooped just the same. Every fight is diff and you have to learn to adapt to that specific fight that you are in. I think Brock has done that, he will be beaten of course he will but he will win alot more thats for sure.
