at what age (new home)

Recommended Posts

iv 2 kits and was wondering at what age is good for them to go to thier newhome thier eye's are open 2 day's and their eating

cheer's pat

make sure there totally independent of there mother .. feeding & not just huddled together .. they should ideally be tazzing about all over the place playing & climbing.. imo 6 weeks is to young

if you take the jill out of the cage how do the kits react .. are they not bothered or do they start whinging

The jill does far more than just feed them & clean them she disciplines them as well & i think kits removed to soon simply seek comfort of there siblings which can be ear sucking

I think there to young to be homed at the moment if there eyes have only been open 2 days

Its hard to put an age on it.. they all develop at differnt rates but observing them will give you a far better idea of when you think there ready to go ... good luck with them

one thing i was told by a game keeper to get the best out of your offspring never knowing if you might want to trace the line it 8 wks is ok 10 wks is better but 12 weeks even better this give the jill time to sort them out and also lets you know they used to human contact.

One of the litters I bred this year where a bit slow weaning, didn't start giving them homes till they were 7-8 weeks.Yet the other litter I have would've been ready at 5-6 weeks, the best way to tell imo is to observe their behaviour and how independant they are.

Though I wouldn't rehome a kitt until they're at least 6 weeks
