Thats maybe true rio and some are not willing to make them selves known. I remember the first saluki/grey first cross i ever saw in the 70s owned by a chap who was mates with crim smith the well known greyhound coursing man who bred a litter of these obviousley through his contacts in the coursing world in the mid 70s but non were sold publicly.atb dell

Well P, as regards coursing in the U.K., the top event was the Forley Cup as was, when it represented the winners of all the coursing clubs in the country running off on finals day, single handed. And the only purebred dog to have ever got this far was T. G. saluki bitch, and she got to the finals 3 years on the trot and progressed to the latter stages each time.

The reason so many lurchers are greyhound based is of course that cast greyhounds are two a penny. Salukis on the other hand were notoriously difficult to come by until recently, and as I'm sure you know most of the top coursing animals have been Saluki x lurcher, rather than greyhound x anything.

But you know this already, don't you?

HI,

my dad has just read that and he spat his tea over my shoulder,

he said for a man who writes so well you do talk a load of bollox, excuse the french,

he said up here a saluki wouldnt catch a cold in a little field night or day x it with a collie bedlington or bull and you will have one rubbish dog......

the greyhound is put in for speed and drive nothing more nothing less the collie is put in for brain and stamina, when the saluki is put in we loose the speed we loose the brain and gain slightly more stamina but create a plod not a go get em attitude from

oh well if your dad said it must be true  now where is the for sale section?? :tongue2:

Salukis xs are ok but i dont find them useful enough, too slow in little fields and too much aloofness for my liking, they do make a lovely house dog and are very handsome and if you have a cabriolet sports car there ears blow lovely in the wind
