Thats pretty young still for 100% compliance. You could try turning your back and walking away. As she gets older. You'll have to run her down and snap the leash on her and take her back to where you called her from. A long line will help quite a bit. As I'm sure you know. A vast majority of recalls should not result in the fun ending. Also, watch what she's doing before you call her. If she's checking out an interesting smell. Thats too important to interupt. Wait til she's done and looking for something else to do. Then you be that something. praise and treats are helpful here. I hope this helps you. ATB Quote Link to post
rickyspringer 15
great reply Mickey Totally agree, allow the pup to be a pup and don't set the dog up to fail, if she is busy exploring wait until she has finished that and lost interest and then call her in with you walking in the opposite way works everytime whilst they are this age, or you could also use the method the about turn, it entails you blowing the recall whistle, running off in the opposite direction without any noise and so on, show no interest in the dog, when the dog has caught you up you sharply turn again (the about turn) then sink down low with loads of fuss as the pup will be itching to get into you after a lil' panic. Don't expect to much too soon, you will have lots of high's and lows. you will take 1 step forward and it will feel 4 steps back at times. Quote Link to post
