stevesel 18
Do breeders of bullcrosses breed for any brainpower or just brawn and the desire to kill stuff and how do they ever catch anything the ones ive seen are really quite slow. Not wishing to offend anyone just a simple question. Quote Link to post

I dont get this one , some breed have been bred to take instruction from man, collies ,etc thats understood, they twig on quick,, bulls have not been bred in such a way, however given enough work , the right man and bull cross , there is very little that cannot be communicated between the two ,,but you need the work and the bond,, Quote Link to post

Ive had 2 bullxs and a pure, all 3 were very easy to train. My bullxs were ok with stock, would retrieve, and for big dogs (70-77lb) not bad on rabbits. You wont get the same agilty with a bullx, as like colliex. but most lads no that. you use bull power+guts, and thats where they shine. Quote Link to post

poacher3161 1,766
Well i can only comment on two bull crosses i had as adult dogs for a short period that were just fekin mental and thick in the bargain their was only one reason for this the way they had been brought up as pups and no other reason as some lads get this type of cross and just want it to run and kill not realiseing a better dog can be made with basic training and taught good manners a must in any type of dog.atb dell Quote Link to post

stevesel 18
What about the lack of pace, i would imagine they are ok for the lads too lazy to walk that run their quarry around with a motor for a while and then release the dog but i cant imagine them being much use walking. Ive caught up to seven rabbits and a hare in one night, i dont think a bull cross would match that Quote Link to post

Ive caught up to seven rabbits and a hare in one night, i dont think a bull cross would match that always had them and never driven fields in my life, also had many that could match 7 poxy rabbits and a hare at night lol, although i admit the ones iv had not big numbers in the rabbit department but then that's really down to their numbers on my permission, you would rarely get into double figures running golf courses, one thing i have noticed is that my bull/grey,in the past have been very easy to train to an acceptable standard, although my current bull/whip/grey can be a stubborn bitch at times, you may even say dumb maybe the whippet in the mix has something to do with this,i dont know , but then you could say how clever do they need to be to take the quarry that most are used for, plenty other more intelligent xs out there i agree Quote Link to post
