bird 9,943
why do you want it to leave rabbits because when after birds in the day rabbits are not relevent Impossible imho and unfair on any lurcher type dog to stop it from chaseing rabbits and flushing birds instead it is the reason the gundog breeds were developed in the first place. Spot on Dell, to me one of the best day+night are colliexs, not that they are better than other xs, but they a (strong instinct) to use there nose, than other xs. Bryn day+night Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
i was always led to believe, back in the times of kings an queens ect ect a lurcher would be a dog to provide for poor mans family an fill the pot, an would be expected to be a jack of all trades filling in for the gun dogs in the day and mixing a bag? with fur an feather? it can be done, it is done, but not by me lol Even in bygone days they still had different dogs for different jobs.I have used lurchers in the past for picking runners up [bANNED TEXT] roost shooting pheasants and certain lurchers would concentrate on the task at hand but if i crossed open ground on to the next wood or spinney and they spotted a rabbit or an hare in the dark they would give chase i would not exspect any thing else from them and admited to myself a steady labrador would have been a lot better option for the job at hand but then i could not have caught a bag of rabbits in the lamp with a labrador.atb dell Quote Link to post
